About Picture to Story
Picture to Story started with a simple observation: children read differently when the hero looks like them. They point at the page, they want to know what happens to “me” next, and they ask for the same book every night.
Personalised books used to mean a name dropped into a story printed for everyone. We wanted each book to be drawn for one child: their face, their favourite animal, the thing they’re brave about.
How we work
We use AI to draw and write, and we put the effort into the parts that make a book good: a story shape that pays off, words matched to the reader’s age, a child who looks the same on every page, and a second check on every picture before you see it. You see the cover before you pay, and if anything is wrong we fix it.
What goes into every book
Each book is 32 pages: a cover with your child’s name in the title, a title page with their portrait and your dedication, 15 illustrated spreads with the story opposite each picture, and an ending page made for them. You choose one of four art styles (storybook watercolour, animated film, bold cartoon or coloured pencil) and one of twelve story worlds, or their own home town.
The story is written for the age you enter: short, rhythmic lines for toddlers, a proper plot with dialogue for six to eight year olds. It is written in British English and follows gentle picture-book rules, with no scary peril, violence, brand names or real people.
Printing and delivery
The digital book, an online flip-book and a PDF, is usually ready about ten minutes after you order. Paperback and hardcover editions are printed on premium full-colour paper by our print partner and posted with tracking to the UK, US, Canada, Australia and most of Europe, with shipping included in the price. If a book arrives damaged or with a printing fault, we reprint it free.
Your photos
Your child’s photo is used only to draw your book. It is never shared, sold or used to train AI, and it is deleted within 60 days. Books that are never ordered are deleted after 30 days.
