Picture to StoryMake a book

A personalised children’s book, illustrated with AI

Most personalised books swap a name into a story that was printed before your child was born. This one is drawn for them: one photo becomes a storybook hero who looks like your child on all 15 illustrated spreads.

What the AI actually does

First it turns your photo into a storybook character in the art style you choose, keeping the face shape, hair, skin tone and glasses recognisable. That character becomes the reference for every picture in the book, so your child doesn’t change from page to page.

Then it writes a 15-scene story around your answers: the world, the adventure, a helper, the lesson you’d like it to land, even their favourite colour and animal. Story length is matched to age, from short rhythmic lines for two-year-olds to fuller pages for confident readers.

Every finished picture is checked by a second AI for the things that spoil AI books: a different-looking child, stray text, extra fingers or a white border. Pages that fail are redrawn before you see them.

Step by step: from photo to finished book

1. You add one clear photo. It is checked in a few seconds, and if the face is too small, blurry or covered you are asked for another before anything is drawn.

2. You pick an art style and your child is drawn as a storybook character. That portrait is the reference for the whole book.

3. While you answer the questions, the cover and the first page of the story are made, usually in under a minute. You see them before checkout and pay nothing if you close the tab.

4. After you order, the 15 illustrations are drawn five at a time, each one checked and redrawn if needed. Most books are finished in about ten minutes, then the printed edition goes to the printer.

What parents control

The AI does the drawing and the writing; you decide what the book is about. You choose the world (twelve, from Dinosaur Valley to Wizard School, or their own home town), one of three adventures in that world, a helper such as a brave puppy, a wise owl or a grandparent, your child’s personality, a special item, the lesson the story should land, and their favourite colour and animal. You also write the dedication printed on the first page.

That is the difference between an AI book and a random one: the story is built from your answers, so it sounds like it was written for your child, because it was.

Four art styles

Storybook watercolour is soft and classic. Animated film has the bright, rounded look of a 3D movie. Bold cartoon uses clean outlines and punchy colours. Coloured pencil looks gently hand-drawn. In every style the face stays true to life, with natural proportions rather than oversized cartoon eyes, because a parent should recognise their child at a glance.

Your child’s photo and privacy

The photo is used only to draw your book. It is never shared publicly, sold or used to train AI models; the services that draw the pictures and write the story are contracted not to train on it. Photos are deleted within 60 days of the book being finished, and books that are never ordered are deleted, with their photos, after 30 days. You can ask for everything to be deleted sooner. Full details are in our privacy policy.

An AI personalised storybook for every age, toddlers included

For two and three year olds the AI writes short, rhythmic lines with repetition to join in with, and gentle bedtime-friendly plots. Four and five year olds get a real problem to solve with a helper. Six to eight year olds get longer pages, funnier dialogue and words they can read themselves. See our personalised books for toddlers for more on the youngest readers.

How it differs from name-only personalised books

A traditional personalised book prints your child’s name into a story and pictures that were made long before. An AI personalised children’s book draws your child, from their photo, into a story written around your answers. The hero looks like them, and the adventure is the one you picked.

Four art styles are available: storybook watercolour, animated film, bold cartoon and coloured pencil. Twelve story worlds, from dinosaurs and outer space to wizard school, plus their own home town.

Questions

Is the AI book safe for children?

Stories are written to gentle picture-book rules: no scary peril, no violence, no brands or real people. Every picture is checked before it is used.

Does the AI keep my child’s photo?

No. The photo is only used to draw your book, never to train AI, and it is deleted within 60 days.

Is an AI personalised book suitable for toddlers?

Yes, from age two. The story is written with short, repeated lines for toddlers, and the hardcover is the sturdiest choice for little hands.

How long does the AI take to make the book?

The cover appears in under a minute while you answer the questions. After you order, all 15 illustrations are drawn and the book is ready in about ten minutes.

How does a personalised picture book from a photo work?

You add one clear photo of your child and answer a few fun questions: their name, age, favourite things and the adventure. We draw your child as the hero of a 32-page illustrated story, keeping their face, hair and skin tone recognisable on every page.

Can I see the book before I pay?

Yes. Your child’s cover and the first page of the story are made while you answer the questions, usually in under a minute, and you see them before checkout. You only pay if you love it.

How long does it take?

The digital book is usually ready about 10 minutes after you order. Printed books take 3 to 5 working days to print, then 3 to 7 days to post in the UK and US.

How much does it cost?

In the UK the digital book is £9.99. A printed paperback is £19.99 and a hardcover is £27.99, both with shipping and the digital book included. Prices show in your local currency (GBP, USD, EUR, CAD, AUD). Every extra book for your family is 20% off.
