What happens in your child and the Pterodactyl Post

  1. Your child is given a flying-post satchel and meets their pterodactyl.
  2. A letter is delivered to a long-necked dinosaur by the fern marsh.
  3. Your child carries a parcel over a rocky ridge to a busy dinosaur nest.
  4. A sudden wind scatters the final urgent letter across the valley.
  5. Your child and the pterodactyl find the letter and complete the post round.

How the first page could read

Morning mist curled over the ferny valley when your child heard a flap-flap-flap above the post hut. A speckled pterodactyl landed beside a pile of letters, parcels and one very urgent-looking feather. “Today’s dinosaur post needs a careful flyer,” said the Postmaster. Your child tucked the delivery satchel close and climbed aboard.

Your child’s name, look and little details replace these words, and the whole story is written for their age.

Why this story works

For children aged 4 to 7, this story gives your child a clear, hands-on job: sorting, carrying and delivering dinosaur post. Each stop offers a new place to notice, from a fern marsh to a stony ridge, while the final missing letter adds a gentle problem to solve. The pterodactyl makes a lively companion without taking over your child’s role as the person in charge of the deliveries. Picture to Story turns one photo of your child into the hero of a 32-page book with 15 illustrated story spreads. You can choose an art style and add little details when creating it.

Reading it together

  • Before reading, ask your child which dinosaur they think will receive the most unusual parcel.
  • Pause at each delivery stop and invite your child to spot where your child should fly next.
  • Afterwards, make a small letter or drawing for someone your child would like to send post to.

Suggested art style: Storybook watercolour

Soft watercolour skies, leafy valleys and sweeping wings suit the gentle pace of a prehistoric postal route. A sidekick idea: a speckled, saddle-wearing pterodactyl. You can pick any of the four styles and change the details in the form.

Questions

How is my child included in this pterodactyl story?

Picture to Story uses one photo of your child to illustrate your child as the young dinosaur-post carrier. You also answer a few questions about their name, age, chosen art style, adventure and little details, so the book is made around them. You can see the cover free before paying.

Is this personalised pterodactyl adventure book suitable for a 4 to 7-year-old?

Yes. The story is built around a simple delivery mission with clear places to visit, friendly dinosaur recipients and a final letter to find. Picture to Story adjusts the amount of text on each page according to your child’s age, making this a good fit for shared reading in these years.

Can I see the book before I pay?

Yes. Your child’s cover and the first page of the story are made while you answer the questions, usually in under a minute, and you see them before checkout. You only pay if you love it.

How long does it take?

The digital book is usually ready about 10 minutes after you order. Printed books take 3 to 5 working days to print, then 3 to 7 days to post in the UK and US.
